Where we photograph

Detroit maternity photo locations

Belle Isle with the skyline behind you, a lake at golden hour, or our studio when the weather turns. When you take your maternity photos and which gown you choose decide.

Expecting couple walking past the James Scott Memorial Fountain on Belle Isle, she in a red gown

detroit

Belle Isle

The only place in Metro Detroit where the skyline sits behind you across the water. The fountain for grand portraits, the shoreline for the bridge and the first city lights at blue hour.

Best for Late spring through fall, golden hour into blue hour

We arrange the DNR photography permit for every session. Michigan plates need a Recreation Passport ($15 a year, sold on the island); out-of-state plates pay $12 a day. About 45 minutes from our studio.

Expecting mother in a pink fitted gown with her family in the studio

downtown rochester

Our Rochester studio

Soft window light, every gown within reach, a hair and makeup chair, and total privacy. Due in winter, carrying a high-risk pregnancy, or picturing something dramatic? This is where you'll feel best.

Best for Any season, any weather

About 30 minutes north of downtown Detroit. Your in-home consultation and gown try-on happen at your place, so the only drive is session day.

Picture yourself here? Tell us your due month and we'll suggest the setting.

Expecting couple on the lakeshore at Stony Creek Metropark under a violet sunset

shelby township

Stony Creek Metropark

Our most-photographed park, with the most range: open meadows for a flowing gown, a lakeshore that softens the sunset, and shaded trails. By mid-October the lake is ringed in color, and those dates go first.

Best for Summer sunsets and peak fall color

Entry is $10 a day per car or $40 for a Metroparks annual pass. No permit needed. About 20 minutes from the studio.

Expecting couple on a boardwalk at Independence Oaks, maples in full fall color

clarkston

Independence Oaks

The quiet one. A boardwalk through the maples, wooded trails around a still lake, and it feels private even on a public afternoon. Overcast days photograph beautifully here.

Best for Quiet mornings, and peak color in October

Free for Oakland County residents, $12 a day for everyone else, no permit. The park keeps firm closing hours, so we plan around them. About 30 minutes from the studio.

Jasmine has went above and beyond to capture our family! She is such a wonderful soul as well it made everything so much more enjoyable. I would recommend her, with all the loops we jumped through with rain she was still able to capture beautiful moments.

Questions moms ask us

What is the best time of year for outdoor maternity photos in Detroit?

Late spring through early fall gives the most reliable light and greenery, and October brings the color at Stony Creek. Due in winter? That usually means the studio, and many moms end up preferring the privacy and warmth.

What happens if it rains on my session day?

We watch the forecast with you and move to another evening or into the studio. You never have to decide alone or lose your session to the weather.

How long do we get at the location?

As long as you need. There's no time limit, and outdoors we stay through golden hour into blue hour. We bring professional off-camera lighting to every outdoor session, so the sky behind you stays rich instead of washing out.

Can we do the studio and an outdoor location in one session?

Yes. Many moms do both: an hour in the studio, then an hour at a nearby park. We bring the wardrobe and lighting with us, so nothing about the experience changes when we step outside.
